ProfessorJorie Lagerwey

I create student-centered learning environments emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity by focusing on discussion, authentic assessments, and student choice. As Vice Principal of Teaching and Learning for the College of Arts and Humanities from 2020-23, I was a leader in academic advising initiatives, creator of My Course Compass, and developing and supporting innovation and best practice for teaching in a digital environment. I was honored to have won a student-nominated Teaching Award from UCD in 2018. As co-Head of Teaching and Learning for the School of English, Drama, Film and Creative Writing, I created a series of Tutor Workshops to help tutors with pedagogical skills as well as classroom and time management. My Teaching and Learning colleague, Rebecca Stephenson, and I also created series of Pedagogy Seminars for School staff to share innovative module design and teaching ideas.
