RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research explores how new technologies shape the goals, values and practices of education at all levels. My work is closely related to the emerging field of critical edtech studies. A philosopher by background, I specialise in philosophy of education, applied ethics and philosophy of technology, with a particular focus on John Dewey's pragmatism, as well as critical theory. However, I also draw from a range of other philosophical theories and approaches – if it works, it works! I also like to combine philosophical research with anticipatory and speculative methods (such as scenario planning), as well as qualitative empirical research in the constructivist tradition.
