BIO

I am a machine learning researcher and technology leader with over 25 years of experience spanning artificial intelligence, data science, enterprise technology and academic research. I am currently a Research Scientist at University College Dublin, where my work combines methodological machine learning research with the development of AI systems for sustainability and regulatory analysis.

I lead the AI-based research for GreenWatch.ai, an Enterprise Ireland-funded initiative developing methods for the systematic detection and analysis of corporate greenwashing. My wider research applies large language models to sustainability assurance and regulatory intelligence, including the analysis and comparison of complex environmental legislation across jurisdictions.

My PhD in Computer Science at UCD focused on deep learning for compositional target prediction. I developed CoTaNET, a neural network framework for predicting non-negative, constant-sum targets, with research spanning model architecture, activation and loss-function design, evaluation methodology and applications in environmental prediction.

Prior to my academic career, I held senior leadership positions in technology, analytics and data science. As Partner at GroupM and Gain Theory (WPP), I led enterprise analytics and technology programmes for global organisations including Unilever and Coca-Cola. This combination of research and industry experience shapes my approach to developing machine learning methods that address complex real-world problems.
