RESEARCH INTERESTS
Niki specializes in resilience and youth health research by applying sophisticated analytical techniques and methodologies. Her research focuses on understanding the bilateral associations between mental and physical health and on identifying factors underpinning resilience. She developed an integrated socio-ecological model that can be applied to identify protective factors of resilience following exposure to different types of adversities such as child abuse and chronic illness. Stigma identified as a major risk factor interfering with treatment-seeking, course of treatment and subsequently quality of life, has been central to her recent research work.
