TEACHING ACTIVITIES
I am a conscientious and passionate teacher. As a social policy academic, I have delivered high-quality teaching for small (8 postgraduate students) and large (300 undergraduate students) classes – generally coordinating 3-4 modules each academic year. Within my school I have made contributions from access to graduate courses including inputs into modules in each of my schools subjects (Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice).
My teaching philosophy is underpinned by the adoption of an experiential learning approach where we as a class navigate a route from theory/concept to its application, to some critical engagement with this application, and to a reflection on the lessons learnt from this for both the issue being examined and the students own learning journey. My goal is to make the material I teach as accessible as possible to students of all backgrounds and to equip them with the tools to develop their own informed opinions of key socio-economic issues.
